Interview

    • How long have you been working at the hotel?
      Liga: I’ve been at the hotel for 10 years. I started as a receptionist, then became supervisor, then conference and banqueting manager, and now I’m sales and marketing manager.Baiba: Since 2003. I started as receptionist, then moved into reservations, and now I am sales and revenue manager.
    • Tell us about your hotel
      Liga: The hotel is one of the oldest in Riga. It has 200 rooms and there are eight conference halls. We’re proud of service, and of our employees. The hotel was built in 1974, but was refurbished in 2000. Our market is mostly German, because we used to be a Maritim hotel, but two years ago we became independent. We still have a strong German clientele, but there are also guests from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and the UK.
    • How long have you been working with Availpro? Why did you decide to choose them?
      Liga: We have been working with Availpro since June 2016. We wanted to change our GDS (Global Distribution System) provider, but they actually suggested we use Availpro. We contacted them, looked at the extranet, and we liked it. It looked very convenient, so we decided to go with it.
    • What were the problems you were experiencing before choosing Availpro?
      Baiba: Our previous channel manager wasn’t as user friendly, and we couldn’t generate reports. Availpro is easy to work, when loading different rates, and planning is easier. And before, every day, every hour, we were changing prices and checking bookings/availability.
    • What was the biggest impact on your business after selecting Availpro as your partner?
      Baiba: More growth! It’s also easier to control and we can connect to more OTA partners. We are also able to grow direct bookings. It’s too early to say if this is working yet, as we only began in June last year, but it’s going better than before. Soon we will be able to compare with last year’s bookings..
    • Is there anything that makes Availpro seem unique?
      Baiba: I really like RateScreener, looking at our competitors’ rates. The Data Cruncher reports too are useful. The extranet also surprised us as it is so easy to use, and there are so many possibilities. We recently saw a competitor’s channel manager, and for now I think we can say that Availpro is number one.

Liga graduated from Turiba University in 2011. She holds a degree in Business Administration.
She has been working at the hotel for 2 years and is in charge of meeting and events planning.

Baiba started her career in the hospitaly industry 14 years ago. After various experiences at the reception and reservation departments, she is now in charge of revenue management at the hotel.
